Chisholm out for the season
Brumbies lock Mark Chisholm will miss the remainder of the Super 14 season after dislocating his wrist.
Chisholm was forced off the field in the 32nd minute of his side’s 40-27 win over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
The 28-year-old underwent close reduction surgery in a Durban hospital yesterday after remaining in South Africa so as to not inflame the injury by flying.
The injury will sideline Chisholm for between six to eight weeks.
Coach Andy Friend said the injury was a further blow for the Brumbies, who are mourning the death of Shawn Mackay a week after being hit by a car.
“It’s very disappointing to lose someone of Mark’s experience and capability for an extended period of time,” he said.
“He’s a senior member of our pack, he’s an integral member of our lineout and he gives the side great gain line with ball in hand.
“As a squad we’ll be doing what we can to give Mark an opportunity to return and play in the finals with us in seven weeks’ time.”
Chisholm is scheduled to return to Australia tomorrow.
